Maintaining an optimal chamber temperature is important for consistent print quality and high part strength. In the summer months, when the ambient temperature is higher, the need for a ventilation fan becomes crucial to prevent the chamber temperature from becoming too high. Our recommended chamber temperatures are 40°C for PETG and 60°C for nylons.

Tools Required:

  • 2.5mm Allen Hex Driver

Parts Needed:

  • HEPA ventilation fan assembly

  • Four M4x12 flathead screws (on the machine)

  • Four countersink washers (on the machine)

Procedure:

Step 1: Power off the printer

Navigate to the Configuration Menu on the printer and selecting System. From there, choose the Shut Down option and select Host. Wait for the console to display the text "reboot: power down." Turn the machine off by hitting the power switch located on the back of the printer. Unplug the power cord.

Step 2: Remove the blanking plate.

Lift open the printer lid. Locate the four M4x12 hex flathead screws with countersink washers located at the back of the lid. Using a 2.5mm Allen hex driver, remove the screws and washers and set them aside for use later. Remove the blanking plate cover.

Step 3: Install the HEPA Ventilation Fan Assembly

Open the package containing the HEPA filter ventilation fan assembly. Using the same four Flathead screws and countersink washers from step 2, attach the new assembly to the back of the printer where the blanking plate cover was removed. Tighten the flathead screws hand tight, in a crisscross pattern. Be sure to run the fan cables so that they are coming out of the bottom side of the lid. Locate the existing plug on the cable track at the rear of the printer. Connect the fan assembly plug into this plug on the cable track.

Step 5: Power On the Printer

Reconnect the power cord and turn the power switch on. Wait for the system to boot up and for the display to show the home screen.

Step 6: Test the Ventilation Fan

Navigate to the Temperature menu and select Chamber Temperature. Set the temperature to a value lower than the current temperature. This will cause the ventilation fan to turn on to modulate the internal temperature of the chamber. If the fan does not turn on, please check your connections again. If the fan still does not turn on, please contact support.
