Caveats
Depending on part geometry, the extrusion multiplier and cooling values need to be adjusted to achieve optimal strength and quality.
Geometry | Thin Low Mass Parts | Normal Perimeter counts of 6-8 Walls | Thick, high mass parts with large numbers of walls or regions of 100% infill
|
---|---|---|---|
Extrusion Multiplier | 0.997 | 1 | 0.985 |
Cooling | 0% | 20% | 50% |
Perimeter counts of less than 5 require slightly less extrusion. Parts with more perimeters than 8 require significantly less extrusion multiplier, especially when running 100% infill.
As the part increases in surface area for each layer, the thermal mass and heat retention rises and more cooling is required to maintain good overhang performance. When the part is very thin and low mass, it sheds heat very easily and it is important to run minimal cooling to maintain layer bond strength.
